Shamrock Soirée: An Evening of Irish Music and Culture at Abita Town Hall
Get ready for an unforgettable night of vibrant music and culture! On Saturday, May 31st, at the Abita Town Hall, the Northshore Traditional Music Society will host an enchanting Irish music soirée that promises to transport you to the heart of Ireland.
The doors will open at 4:30 PM, with the concert kicking off at 5:00 PM. The evening will start with a lively 25-minute performance by a small NSTMS “Irish” band, setting the tone for an unforgettable evening. Following that, the legendary Gerry O’Connor will take the stage for a one-hour performance, blending his mastery of traditional Irish music with the talented guitarist, Don Penzien.
But the fun doesn’t stop there! After the concert, enjoy a “Meet and Greet” with Gerry O’Connor. Guests will also have the opportunity to bring their own instruments and play with NSTMS members and/or get their feet moving with an Irish traditional music session and ceíli/community dance — a perfect way to immerse yourself in the lively spirit of Irish culture.
In addition to the music, Patrick McElligott’s famous Beef and Guinness Stew, along with some other Irish treats, will be available for purchase throughout the evening, so guests can relax and enjoy the Soirée without interruption.

CELTIC: IRISH SESSION & THE SLOW/FAST SESSION
IRISH SESSION
The Irish Session is held on the third Thursday of each month at 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. Musicians gather in the back room of the Abita Brew Pub located at 72011 Holly Street in Abita Springs, Louisiana to play and sing favorites from the Celtic repertoire while enjoying good company, food, and drinks.
